I first began offering professional editing work during my undergraduate studies, editing theses and other major assessments for fellow students. I continued offering these services during my post-graduate work and over the last twenty years. I’ve also edited fiction, as well as professional and academic documents such as annual reports and research papers.
Experienced in proofreading, line editing and structural editing, my work is thorough and reliable. I can work with Microsoft Word, tracking changes, and leaving comments to explain the reasons for my edits, alternative options to consider and other questions or comments. I can also do the same using Google.docs, in a more dynamic way that allows us to see one another’s work in real time.
My work with academic writing has included working with many subject areas unfamiliar to me, including theses on psychology, chemistry and physics. This wide variety of experience has given me the confidence to work with any material you may need – I don’t need to have a degree in physics to help you write about your research in a clear and engaging way.
Fees
For editing work, I charge by the word. See below for the starting fees. The fee may be negotiated, with a discount for longer jobs. For an additional fee, I can also offer a quick turnaround, where possible, or dynamic editing through Google.docs.
| Proofreading | $50 per 1000 words |
| Line Editing | $75 per 1000 words |
| Structural Edit | By Negotiation |
I value repeat customers and referrals and my fees can reflect this.
